When the humans revolt, 'Tran sends a distress call to Megatron, which is intercepted by the Autobots, who don't know who it's from. Cosmos, Perceptor, Bumblebee and SeaSpray are sent to investigate, and discover the planet, crash landing only shortly before Astrotrain, Megatron, Dirge, Soudwave, and Rumble arrive. The Autobots make a hasty alliance with the humanoids, and discover that they can transform their bodies into other forms with the help of a magical pool of water. Becoming mermen and mermaids, the humanoids show the Autobots their underwater city, which is unknown to the 'Cons until Laserbeak follows them there. End the first part. Seaspray is warned away from the pool, because Elena, one of the humans, is afraid that robots can't survive the dissolution of their bodies. Seaspray and Elena have feelings for each other. Bumblebee is captured. Deceptirtran goes bananas. Eventually, the Decepticons attack the underwater city to deter further rebellions of their human slaves, but Seaspray, now a merman, and Elena, fight them. Supplied with Autobot weapons, the merpeople are able to hold off the 'Cons until Deceptitran calls them away. Elena, now a robot, and Seaspray back in his original form, are raiding the 'Con energon supplies and have reprogrammed all the 'Con drones to attack Decepticons. All the Autobots escape destruction, the energon goes boom, and the Decepticons run. The people have their planet back, and Seaspray and Elena decide to maintain their friendship, despite, uh, species differences. This is a very full episode, as you can tell. This is as concise a review as I could put together. I'll concentrate on the highlights... Obviously this episode exists to sell the minibot toys, 'Spray and 'Bee. On a deeper level, tho, does it surprise anyone that the Decepticons have such a sophisticated mercantile system? Why would they need to depend on Earth if there are other 'Cons out there gathering energy? Or maybe this is just an isolated thing. But fifty cents says that this is where Simon Furman got his ideas for Jhiaxus and Bludgeon being die-hard colonist types. I wish that Deceptitran had been a more regular character, his particular brand of paranoia suited the puppet governor-type well. Decent animation, with no flubs in the voices or the dubbing, although the sound effects left a bit to be desired. I wish that this had been made a two-parter, so that we could examine the relationship between 'Tran and Megatron more closely. They don't seem to like each other... "She kissed my... my..." "Yeah, dream on, bubble-brain..." KKC, needs to take a break. -- Kendrick Kerwin Chua - kendrick@io.com - "Hey man, your bike's on fire."
