Talk about putting words in people's mouths... TRUKK NOT MUNKY is not a term applied to every person in the universe who prefers non-BW toys. No, TRUKK NOT MUNKY is applied to those who maintain the stance "BW SUX!" (usually stated in all caps and in that insipid internet 733T-speak, hence TRUKK NOT MUNKY's intentional all-caps and misspelling) on a stance of willful ignorance, using wholly arbitrary reasoning which more often that not comes up in G1 yet is somehow excused, or were merely forgotten because it's from non-1986-G1 (which seems to be where most of the TNM crowd's TF knowledge ends). Or reasoning that flies in the face of, well, ESTABLISHED FACT. It applies to people who DON'T HAVE WELL-ARTICULATED OPINIONS on the matter, just knee-jerk reactionary "this sucks!". TFs shouldn't have animal modes? Some of the most popular TFs had animal modes. Animal modes have been a staple of the TF line. TFs shouldn't have characters with no robot mode? All but four of the cassettes had no robot mode. TFs should have vehicle modes? Transmetals have psuedo-vehicle modes, and of course we have the Vehicons. TFs shouldn't have organic elements/looks? Pretenders, the various Masters. Optimus Prime shouldn't be an ape? Well, he's not. That's Optimus Primal, completely different character, as are all but two of the BW characters... well, three. Ravage, Grimlock, and supposedly Prowl, but that could just be the Maximal Shirley MacClaine. BW has fleshy animal modes? Well, it also has plenty of metallic animal modes too. BW toys limbs pop off too easily? Yeah, it's so they don't break in a manner that requires epoxy or disassembly to fix, like many early G1 toys. BW was a failure? Uh, no. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a failure. It kept the Transformers line successful and alive, and sold very well according to toy sale reports, not to mention lasting nearly six years, if you include Beast Machines. Real TFs fans hate the line? Not even going to touch that steaming pile. I've had more than enough discussions with people in toy stores and the like where their views on the matter were very adequately summed up by TRUKK NOT MUNKY. They hated something they knew NOTHING ABOUT. I am not making this conversation up... TRUKK : Man, I can't beleive what Beast Wars did to Bumblebee. ME : What? Bumblebee? TRUKK : Yeah. They ruined him. ME : Bumblebee was never IN Beast Wars. TRUKK : ... he wasn't? ME : No. There wasn't even a character NAMED Bumblebee. EVERYONE in Beast Wars was a new character. Well, they brought in Ravage in a new body for three episodes, but that's it. The toyline also had Grimlock come back, but he was never in the show. The only other time we saw G1 characters were in flashbacks or deactivated in the Ark. TRUKK : The Ark? Huh? ME : Uh, yeah. BW takes place on Earth back while all the Transformers are deactivated in the ship when they crashed. The whole point of the final season is PROTECTING the original TFs from the Predacons. TRUKK : Really? And so on. M "BW Just Not Appeal? Fine. Beautiful. Just Don't Be All TRUKK NOT MUNKY About It" Sipher -- King Weasel Productions - home of the productions of King Weasel!
